Summer Style by Kimberly Smith

Our guest contributor, fashion stylist/photographer and blogger Kimberly Smith created this outfit to illustrate how she protects from the sun to avoid a lupus flare in style.

"We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun's harmful rays.  And it's even more crucial for those of us who suffer from lupus, since prolonged exposure can increase symptoms, cause rashes and even trigger flares.  But, there's no reason to stay inside all summer long - there are plenty of ways to cover up your skin so you can enjoy all your favorite activities, while still looking chic.  This combination is so lightweight & breezy, while still providing the right amount of needed protection - ideal for a day at the beach, picnic in the park or a stroll through town.  Of course, even if you're fully covered, it's still essential to wear sunscreen.

What I'm wearing:

LOFT chambray shirt, SO linen pants, c/o Old Navy sandals,

Mossimo hat (similar under $15, under $20 or under $30), c/o Old Navy bucket bag,

Bracelets: Zara (similar) & LOFT (similar here and here), Ray-Ban sunglasses,

Lips: Revlon Moon Drops (Blase Apricot), Nails: Essie Waltz"
