1 Million+ Visitors Learn about Lupus at NYS Fair:
Lupus awareness was brought to the attention of over 1 million New Yorkers at the New York State Fair, which took place from August 22nd to September 2nd. On behalf of all the Lupus Agencies in New York State, the Lupus Foundation of Mid and Northern New York hosted a booth for the 24th year to educate people about the disease that affects over 1.5 million Americans.
Through the booth the group reaches not only the many people who do not know about lupus and other autoimmune diseases, but also gives positive information and hope to those who are impacted by it.
Lupus patient and passionate advocate Kathleen Arntsen, President and CEO of the Lupus Foundation of Mid and Northern NY, led volunteers in hosting the booth. The organization is a member of the Lupus Research Institute National Coalition of lupus patient groups throughout the country.
“We were able to distribute much-needed lupus materials to the public as well as lupus patients and their loved ones, and health professionals,” noted Arntsen. “We fulfilled our goal to educate and empower patients by showing that it is possible to live well with lupus.”
