This presentation will give an overview of what are symptoms of lupus and how lab tests help in making the diagnosis of lupus. She also will talk about what labs the doctor checks once you are diagnosed with lupus and why these labs are important. In order to best control your lupus it is best to understand what the lab results mean for you and your lupus.

Beverly Johnson, MD, MS
Dr. Beverly Johnson is a board certified rheumatologist and internist. She works at Urban Health Plan, a federally funded health center in the Bronx. Dr. Johnson trained in rheumatology at Hospital for Special Surgery in NY, NY where she worked in the Lupus clinic. She did her internal medicine training at Cornell Hospital. She graduated from medical school at Brown University, and she did her masters in epidemiology at Columbia Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Johnson is bilingual in English and Spanish, and is working to create a Lupus Center of Excellence at Urban Health Plan to better serve the patients in the community.
