In Memory Of Morrie Golick

We Remember With Love Morrie Golick - Devoted Father, Dedicated Founder (1910-2012) Who Made the Critical Difference for the Lupus Cause

Dear Friends,

We are writing to share that Morrie Golick, the beloved founder of the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation has died in his 102nd year.  Some of you may never have met Morrie, but surely anyone touched by lupus was in his heart when he launched the Foundation more than 40 years ago. His goal was not only to support his daughter Susan when she was diagnosed with lupus, but also to help the 1.5 million people who also struggle with this devastating disease.

You can get a sense of Morrie Golick as father, friend and leader from the attached New York Times obituary. The memorial tribute from the Board and staff of the Foundation recognizes the enormous contribution Morrie made to the lupus community of patients, families, physicians and scientists nationwide. His commitment to pursuing a cure extended to the creation of the Lupus Research Institute (LRI), now the world’s foremost funder of innovative research in lupus.

We will forever miss Morrie’s warmth and compassion as we strive to fulfill his vision of a “Life Without Lupus.”

Warm regards,

Margaret Dowd
Executive Director, S.L.E. Lupus Foundation/President, Lupus Research Institute
