So flex your feet, find out what it takes to join the team, and no matter whether you are a runner or not, mark the date to come out and cheer.
“We are again honored,” said Margaret G. Dowd, executive director of the Foundation, “to be the only lupus organization ever to host a team in the world’s most famous marathon.”
The S.L.E. Lupus Foundation is a New York-based institution that has served people with lupus for 40 years, and its “Team Life Without Lupus” draws 40 runners from New York City and around the world committed to raising awareness and research funds.
Our team runs on behalf of the more than 1.5 million Americans with lupus who may find it impossible to run because of the often crippling fatigue, joint and muscle pain, and life-threatening damage to organs and tissues caused by the disease.
In exchange for a $3,000 fundraising commitment,
Team Life Without Lupus runners receive team gear, invitations to get-togethers, and a complimentary training program led by experienced marathon coaches.
